Description:

Paphos is a beautiful city in the Southwestern coast of the island of Cyprus and is known for being one of the oldest cities in the world. A city that has seen the rise and fall of many different Kingdoms. And, as the mythical birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek Goddess of Beauty and Love, you can expect to encounter a lot of ancient archaeology, as well as the beautiful mosaics of historic Roman villas.

If you enjoy culture and history, Paphos will be an intriguing holiday, with its spectacular ancient remains, for which it has been included in the official UNESCO list of cultural and natural treasures of the world’s heritage. More recently, (2017) the city was chosen as the European Capital of Culture.

In addition, Paphos – and the whole island of Cyprus – is known for its sunny weather and high summer temperatures. The district of Paphos has more than 50 kilometres of coastline, with 27 beautiful, clean beaches. As well as plenty of entertainment for the little ones in your family.

So, whether you are a sun-seeker, an explorer, or just looking for a relaxing holiday with beautiful scenery, Paphos has something for everyone, at any time of the year.

Climate:

Paphos has a Subtropical Mediterranean climate with a very low chance of precipitation throughout the year.

The hottest months are July, August and September. However, the highest recorded temperature during these months is 45,6˚C, which for some people might be a little too unbearable.

If you are looking to have a slightly cooler holiday, the best time would be to go between April and June, when the temperatures are more moderate between 22˚C and 27˚C.

Meals:

From feasting on Mezes to drinking wines made from local grapes; eating and drinking well is a guarantee when you are staying in Paphos. A three-course meal for two people will cost you around €34,00 (£30). A cappuccino is around €2,70 (£2,40) and water is about €1,70 (£1,50) per litre bottle, whereas a bottle of Beer will cost you around €2,00 (£1,75).
