Description:

Playa De Matapalo is located in Costa Rica, in the province of Guanacaste. This province is in northwestern Costa Rica and is known for its beaches and biodiverse parkland.

The beach is located near the jungle, and it’s easy to see why this has become a perfect habitat for most of Costa Rica’s wildlife. You can still see monkeys swinging and turtles nesting yearly. A variety of flora and fauna is also found within this area. Visiting Playa De Matapalo will definitely give you the typical Costa Rican vibe of being surrounded by nature and wildlife.

The beach is secluded and is located close to the popular Riu Guanacaste and Riu Palace resorts. Unlike similar beaches in the area, the waves in Playa De Matapalo are not meant for surfing, instead one can try other activities such as paddle boarding, kayaking, jet ski, and diving. Sunset cruises are just as lovely to experience here, as the coast faces the west and is a perfect spot to view the sunset.

Travelers fly into Guanacaste via the Liberia International Airport, which is situated 40 minutes away by car, either by shuttle or private car.

Climate:

Playa De Matapalo lies 33m above sea level. Matapalo has a tropical climate. The summers here have a good deal of rainfall, while the winters have very little.

The warmest month of the year is April, while November is the coldest month.
